Florida Republicans admit talks about suppressing Democratic votes according to a report in The Palm Beach Post.
The new law that was pushed through by Republican Governor Scott and party that led to voting wait times of up to six hours, was put in place to
limit the voting of registered Democrats. That’s what former Governor Charlie Crist and the former GOP Party Chairman Jim Greer have said. They claim to have attended meetings starting three years ago to limit early voting because Democrats overwhelmingly used that time to vote. 62% of early votes in 2008 were for Democrats and just 19% for Republicans.
The halving of early voting days and times, along with an 11 page ballot combined to produce lines and times so long that some voters said they didn’t vote. Would you wait in line 5 hours to vote? If you’re a Democrat moving to Florida, on election day, leave for the polling place early in the morning and pack a lunch.
